ESTABLISHED IN 2015

Chamber Charitable Fund

The Chamber Charitable Fund is administered by Chamber member Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation. It provides a platform for the Chamber to support charitable causes, in our case the charities in Chamber membership, while also managing all the money safely and within charitable law.

Our fund’s charitable year runs December to December, to coincide with our President’s term of office.

Charities are selected from Chamber membership by the incoming President in November and announced at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in December.

The total amount raised by the fund during the year is then split equally and presented at the AGM the following December.

Fundraising during 2022 reached a new height.

From various Chamber events or activities throughout the year, we raised a record-breaking £15,000. At the Chamber's 2022 AGM, it was announced that the charities nominated during 2022 would each receive £5,000. They were:
- Treetops Hospice
- Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust
- Focus Charity

The President’s charities for 2023 are the three Community Foundations in the East Midlands

Community Foundations run affordable grant-giving funds for families, individuals, companies, the public sector, and they revitalise dormant trusts. They give those grants, with and for their donors and funders, to vital local charitable groups that help keep our communities thriving.

With the generous support of individuals, companies, and others from the NHS to Rolls-Royce plc who all use Community Foundations to reach those that need their help, we give millions of pounds in clearly defined support, mitigating some of the harshest effects of the cost-of-living crisis, and improving quality of life for all who live, work and do business in the East Midlands.

2023 beneficiary

Nottinghamshire Community Foundation (NCF)

Foundations have a unique approach to philanthropy allowing individuals and businesses to support their own specific local interests and causes and in doing so invest in the future of their community.

NCF acts as a “broker” on a flexible low cost basis between people and organisations who care about their local community. Providing support for the wide range of voluntary organisations, local charities and social enterprises that do the hands-on work to make a real difference to their – and our – communities.

NCF has distributed over £25m of grant funding to voluntary and community groups in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire since 2001 to over 3,500 community groups connecting people who care with causes that matter.

Foundation Derbyshire

Foundation Derbyshire wants to see a culture of giving at the heart of life in Derbyshire, helping to create a county where communities are strong, civil society is valued, and all individuals have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and be treated fairly and with respect.

It aims to grow philanthropy in Derbyshire by enabling anyone to be a philanthropist; in life, through a legacy, establishing a named fund or collective giving.

And to make grants work creatively and effectively for both grant recipients and funders, creating the bridge between people who care about and can give to their local community and the wide range of grassroots groups and charities that work to tackle disadvantage, address need and improve the quality of life in the county.

Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation

All the grants go to local charitable, voluntary and community groups meeting local needs including homelessness, physical and mental health, sports and the arts, poverty and disadvantage, family support, elderly lunch clubs – and much more.

Some are quite large charities, others very small. Almost none are household names. Yet between them, and with the help of the generous philanthropic grant-giving funds on the platform, they help keep Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland stable and thriving, great places to live and work.
